Orogeny is the mountain formation. Refers to forces and events leading to a severe structural deformation of the Earth’s crust.
There are two types of orogeny:
-Alpine orogeny: (occur in alps) is an orogenic phase in the late mesozoic and tertiary that formed the mountains ranged of the Alpide belt
-Andean orogeny: (occur in ands) Tectonic forces above the subduction zone along the entire west coast of South America where the Nazca Plate and a part of the Antartic Plate are sliding beneath the South American Plate continue to produce an ongoing orogenic event.
